Meet Roshida
Hello! I'm Roshida, a Reading Specialist and Title I Reading Teacher with a passion for helping children become confident, successful readers.
Throughout my career in education, I have worked with students who struggled with foundational reading skills, fluency, comprehension, and reading confidence. I created Foundations Literacy because I believe every child deserves instruction that is tailored to their unique strengths and needs.
My approach is rooted in the Science of Reading and focuses on identifying what is getting in the way of reading success so instruction can be targeted, meaningful, and effective.
My Philosophy
I believe every child can learn to read when instruction is aligned to their individual needs.
Struggling readers are not broken, lazy, or incapable. Often, they simply need instruction that addresses the specific skills that are preventing them from making progress.
My goal is to help students strengthen foundational reading skills, gain confidence, and develop a more positive relationship with reading.

Why I Started Foundations Literacy
Foundations Literacy was created to provide families with personalized, evidence-based reading support outside of the traditional classroom setting.
By identifying a student's strengths and areas of need through assessment, I am able to provide targeted instruction focused on the skills that will have the greatest impact on reading success.
My mission is to help students become confident, independent readers while giving families a clearer understanding of how to support their child's literacy development.
